The UK Living Kidney Donation Buddy Support Service has fully launched today, with people able to request a Buddy or apply to become a Buddy themselves.
The service offers a secure and safe place for people considering donating a kidney to chat with someone who has first-hand experience and understands the living donation journey.
Support is essential for kidney donors and those around them, both before and after donating. This new service offers a place to chat with someone who has first-hand experience and understands what’s involved in donating a kidney.
How it works
The service will be provided through an online platform where buddies and users can set up a profile and manage appointments themselves.
Potential donors and their loved ones can then select a buddy for them based on age, location, ethnicity, gender and religious beliefs, depending on their own circumstances.
Once the appointment is confirmed, the session will take place using Zoom.
